Oil union workers reach tentative agreement | Business
Union oil workers from local refineries hit the street Tuesday to rally for a new contract ahead of a national deadline.
The national union announced late Tuesday night that it had reached a tentative agreement before the midnight deadline, avoiding a possible union strike.
Employees from Holly Refinery joined the rally Tuesday night at North Temple and Redwood Road in Salt Lake City. They say it's more about just wages, but about their safety.
"We just want to inform the public that we as workers are interested in having safer refineries, we're trying to get safety language added to our contract," said Beau Stander, an oil union employee.
Union members will now vote on that tentative agreement over the next month.
